For years the Amazon Fire TV Stick was the easiest way to put an IPTV app on any TV. That’s changing. Amazon has started moving its streaming sticks from Fire OS, which is based on Android, to its own system called Vega OS. Vega OS devices can only install apps from the Amazon Appstore, and TiviMate isn’t one of them.

Here’s what that means if you watch Moa TV, or plan to.

What’s happening

  • Fire OS is the system most Fire TV devices have run for years. It’s built on Android, so it can install Android apps such as TiviMate with the free Downloader app.
  • Vega OS is Amazon’s newer system. It doesn’t run Android apps from outside the Appstore, so TiviMate can’t be installed.
  • The Fire TV Stick 4K Select, launched in late 2025, was the first Fire TV Stick with Vega OS. The Fire TV Stick HD (2026) followed.
  • Amazon has said that all future Fire TV Sticks will run Vega OS.

How to check your device

  1. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About.
  2. Look at the software information. Vega OS devices name Vega OS there.
  3. Another sign: on Vega OS devices you won’t be able to install Downloader and allow unknown apps as described in our Firestick setup guide.

Already own a Vega OS stick?

You have a few options:

  • Use it for other apps and add a different device for Moa TV.
  • Return it if you’re still within the retailer’s return period.
  • Choose a Google TV device, such as the Google TV Streamer or another Google TV box, which runs TiviMate from the Google Play Store.

Buying a new device for Moa TV

If you want a Fire TV, look for a model that runs Fire OS, such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Max or the Fire TV Cube, and check the listing before you buy. If you’d rather not worry about future changes, a Google TV device is a safe choice because TiviMate is in the Google Play Store. Our guide to the best devices for TiviMate compares the options.

Questions

Will my current Fire TV stop working with TiviMate?

Fire OS devices you already own keep running TiviMate. The change affects new Vega OS models.

Can I sideload apps on Vega OS?

No. Vega OS installs apps from the Amazon Appstore only.

Is there another app I can use on a Vega OS stick?

App availability on Vega OS is limited and changes over time. Ask us for the current options, but a Fire OS or Google TV device gives the best Moa TV experience with TiviMate Premium.
